Steele’s new job
The Hill newspaper is reporting that Michael Steele is hooking up with the DC office of a powerful New York law firm. I wonder if he’ll prep himself if he’s pulled before Congress to testify regarding the sham Election Day tactics he used in 2006 along with former Governor Bob Ehrlich (R)? For those who remember, former Maryland Lt. Gov Michael Steele (R) ran for the U.S. Senate seat in the state that retiring Senator Paul Sarbanes (D) left open. On Election Day, Republicans trafficked homeless people in from Philadelphia to Prince Georges County, Maryland. There, they gave them fake sample Democratic ballots that listed lots of Democrats but also listed Bob Ehrlich and Michael Steele on the card. They were both Republicans but that wasn’t noted anywhere. It looked like this was the Democratic Party’s supported candidates. In fact, real Democratic sample ballots listed now Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) and then Rep. now Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD 03). This issue has been looked into in Maryland and at the federal level.
